Joe Biden for VP?
I havent seen this discussed at all anywhere. I am wondering why? If foreign afairs exp is essential to a winning dem ticket wouldnt Biden as VP be an excelent choice?

I dissagree with Joe at times but most of the time he seems to be right on the money at least when I have seen him talking about Iraq.

Chair in the foreign relations comitee would be a huge selling point would it not?

1. I guess..
except that he wouldn't bring us any extra states. Democrats will take Delaware in 04 no matter what. I would rather have Graham as VP so that we can have a good shot at Florida, or maybe Clark so that we can have a shot at Arkansas.

2. I saw CSPAN for about 5 minutes
He looked like he was defending the Iraq reconstruction efforts. I didn't like that too much and I don't really connect with it too much since Halliburton, Bechtel and Brown & Root have too much of a hand in it.

3. No Way!
I still blame him for the way he handled the Clarence Thomas hearings and let that SOB slide on through.

7. Baucus for VP?
Since Gov. Martz is having problems in Montana, could senator Max Baucus help carry this state in 2004?

8. No
Baucus is a moderate democrat at best. Who cares about Montana? It only has 3 electoral votes and it is extremely unlikely that we could win there anytime soon. I would rather have a vice president who could win a bigger state or would have a larger regional or even national appeal.

12. Baucus Vs. Kerry
From Public Citizen:

WASHINGTON - May 15 - Tuesday’s 98-0 passage of an amendment brought to the Senate floor by Sens. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) highlights the need for the Kerry "Chapter 11" amendment to the trade package coming later this week, Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch said.

"It’s nice they fixed a drafting error by passing the Baucus amendment," said Lori Wallach, director of Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch. "Now the Senate needs to pass the Kerry Amendment to start fixing the NAFTA Chapter 11 problem."

Unlike the amendment sponsored by Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), the Baucus-Grassley Amendment does not set the U.S. Constitution as the benchmark for the scope of property rights available to foreign investors in the United States.

9. Biden's Credibility
Biden's biggest problem may stem from his term paper scandal. He copied something in college, which made him jump out of the 1988 presidential nomination. Don't know the whole story, but it was something to that effect.

10. I admitedly dont know that much
About Biden . I do know he ran for president previously and something did him in. Your term paper thing sounds like that might be it. If anyone has more info i would love to hear it. Again i think the guy has been spot on on the iraq situation most of the time. Did you see the conference he gave to the security group (?) the other day I caught the last portion of it on cspan and it was good stuff.

11. no
What really happened is that he plagarized a campaign speech about his childhood. A Dukakis campaign staffer did some reasearch and discovered that it was identical to a speech that a member of the British parliament had given like a year before. There's that problem and his questionable health. He almost died of an anuerysim (spelling?) 15 years ago and had lung surgery earlier this year.

13. Nope
Biden wouldn't help us carry any state we couldn't anyway and he's a joke as far as his accomplishments go. All he's done is bring us Clarence Thomas, the RAVE Act, an da lot of Bush ass kissing.

14. Biden just doesn't do it for me
If we have to have a incumbent senator with strong foreign policy credentials I would rather have Bob Graham on the ticket with Dean.

15. Anyone see Biden on Charlie Rose last week?
It was right after he took it to Wolfowitz, and both Biden and Rose were just cracking up watching the replay of Wolfowitz getting smacked down. It was quite a moment.
