A Hero For America
A Hero For America

By Natasha H. (age 12)

Out of Ohio a long shot has come.
Voters greet him with a hearty welcome.
Fearful candidates hope he’ll go away.
“Unelectable” they lyingly say.

Suddenly there’s hope for health care for all.
America soon again can stand tall.
Total equality, he can secure.
For America’s ills, he is the cure.

College for all will be affordable
If we believe our dreams are possible.
Jobs for Americans soon will come back.
Goodbye to W.T.O.’s job attack.

No more arsenic or nuclear waste
Nor cyanide in the water to taste.
Our environment now needs a hero
Who won’t sell us out as his profits grow.

He will help us to restore our liberty.
No more Homeland spying on you and me.
He will save our civil rights from attacks.
He will stop the outrageous fascist acts.

Each of us needs to stand up for what’s right,
Pulling America out of its plight.
We are the ones who determine who wins -
Not some conservative whose lies are sins.

We need a man who is honest and true,
One who will work hard for me and for you,
One who puts people above his campaign,
Who won’t skip out on work for his own gain.

Dennis will make this a great place for all.
He’s the right man. Are you up to the call?
Together we can make this country rich.
By choosing the best leader: Kucinich.

Natasha, the writer of this poem, has written a number of poems about a variety of subjects, such as 9/11, freedom, voter's rights, Paul Wellstone the Iraq war and the Texas legislators. After the selection and when she was 9 years old, she wrote a document called "Taking America Back" that eloquently detailed an approach for retaking America back from the crooks who stole our government in 2000.

4. What an amazing little girl!
That's a great poem. It breaks your heart, only because these kids and their kids are going to be the ones to really suffer if we don't dump Bush.

5. Natasha was in Santa Ana yesterday.
She gave a speech (no notes!) And then recited this poem for us. I was frantically taking notes, hoping I could find a copy on the Kids4Kucinich site.

We need a man who is honest and true,
One who will work hard for me and for you,
One who puts people above his campaign,
Who won’t skip out on work for his own gain.

Dennis will make this a great place for all.

I couldn't have said it better.

6. That is so beautiful....
I'm glad that people see his resemblance to Wellstone, and in fairness to Kucinich he was even working on populist legislation many years ahead of Wellstone. They are definitely kindred spirits, both of whom believed working within the political system and the DEmocratic Party.

7. its ok DK I think would agree actually
Wellstone/Kucinich, I think DU would flock to that. Another great populist man is Mr. Tom Harkin, the great senator of Iowa, who had DK in Iowa last week, and Harkin, DK, and Wellstone share that humbleness, I am not sure if DK had immigrant parents but Harkin's mom was Slovene like me well I am part and he had coal miners, both of Wellstone's parents were immigrants. These three men are what the democratic party means to me, populism, that is putting your fellow man before your buck.

10. She was in San Diego last night
Instead of speaking last night, she was joining the audience in giving Dennis standing ovations.

11. I think all who watched the AFL-CIA debate could see the truth
of Natasha's poem. It could be because Dennis knows he has real kids and real people on his side that he has the courage to show so much strength in his fight to "make this a great place for all."
