Article on the Dean Meetup I organized (local paper)
Edited on Sun Aug-10-03 03:00 PM by deutsey

EASTON - More than 30 people packed Chez Lafitte Wednesday evening to learn about and show support for Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean.

According to Dean's campaign Web site (www.deanforamerica.com), more than 78,000 people were scheduled to attend 480 similar meetups across the country Wednesday. Dean is the former governor of Vermont and claims to "represent the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party."

The Easton meetup was organized by Dwayne Eutsey of Easton and Ryan Ewing, a Talbot County native who now works in Washington, D.C., with assistance from Easton Town Councilman Scott Jensen. Meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of every month.

Snip

Eutsey called Dean's presidential bid a grassroots campaign, consisting of "people coming together to take back the country."
"To me, this is what democracy looks like, and I'm proud to be a part of it in Talbot County," Eutsey said.

5. The organizer of my first Dean MeetUp really encouraged me
to try and find it 40 miles away, last Wed night. The press was going to be there and he wanted as many People there as possible. I'm so glad I made it!

Here's our Press link...

6. this is great, I am so jealous
While I have been here for some time and I recently became an American citizen and REGISTERED to vote!, many immigrants like myself often find getting involved in politics a bad thing. The country I came from used to use politics as an excuse to kill you and take your property. I find it so refreshing to see everyone getting together like this.

8. Thanks for that point of view
It makes me all the more convinced that the best cure for what ails democracy is MORE democracy!

Welcome to our country, fellow citizen, and and welcome to DU! It can get a little rough here on DU sometimes, but it's a great place to exercise your democratic muscles.
