Dean hits Bush on California Recall
At the Candidates forum in Philadelphia all the candidates supported Gray Davis but Howard Dean put it best, he argued that Davis is taking the brunt of blame on problems caused by the Bush Administration, "If you want to recall somebody it should be George Bush and we'll get that opportunity."

Overall this article in the Post seems to indicate it was a good forum.

1. I caught the last hour of it
It was an excellent debate. Dean did great and I do like Sharpton's tongue lashing of Bush and the Repukes. Sharpton is doing a good job of getting the Dem base excited about this primary race, even though he has not a chance in heaven or hell of winning. But I think that Sharpton can inspire alienated African Americans and young people to vote in 2004. Dean can also.

I'm glad Dean told how he not only can win the White House but also help change the demographics of the Congress. He said that he plans on getting 3-4 million people into his campaign, especially those who have never participated in politics before. That is the only way to beat Bush and Dean is the only one who figured it out.

2. My Sharpton Fantasy - a small hijack
I fantasize that Sharpton gets enough support in the primaries that he gets speaking time at the convention and gets some pull with the nominated candidate. In this election, the minority vote is going to be critical. Getting African-Americans out to vote across the board is vital. That isn't going to happen if the Democratic candidate doesn't address some of their key issues. Sharpton can help with that, maybe.

Ideally it would be Braun who got the pull, but I just don't think she has the fortitude for it. I hope she gets a cabinet position though.

4. I've been wondering about this myself
If Sharpton could get around 8-10% in most Southern states, which is what he is polling at in those states, I think he would get a prime time speech.

Let's hope Braun gets some time as well. She is a great speaker and has a wonderful understanding of the issues.
