Does it take money to get votes? - SA

The Independent Democrats (ID) appealed on Wednesday to all political parties to support its bid to have a cap instated on the amount of money parties can spend in the run-up to next year's elections.

"This will ensure a level playing field and allow all parties to be on an equal footing as we approach general elections in 2004," the ID said in a statement.

1. That would be a bad idea

The reason being is that a lesser know candidate has to spend more to get name recognition in the campaign. Lets face it, Hillary could spend 10 cents to the dollar of most other candidates. This would give Lieberman the advantage in the campaign over Kerry, Dean, and the others.

unless your a ENRON Republican Movie Star like Arnold Schwazenegger, then you can get all of the free publicity you want!
