LA: Kyle enters new race; in turn, Perkins quits

Former Legislative Auditor Dan Kyle, fresh from dropping out of the governor's race, on Wednesday stepped into state Rep. Tony Perkins' shoes as a Republican candidate for insurance commissioner.

At a joint press conference with Kyle, Perkins dropped out of the race against Democratic Commissioner Robert Wooley to take a job as president of the Washington, D.C.-based Family Research Council.

Perkins said his strong family values drew him to take a job with the nonprofit family and marriage issues group.

Kyle entered the insurance race promising to reduce insurance rates by ousting an incumbent who relies on insurance companies to finance his campaign.

Perkins ran for Senator in the last race. We had a candidates forum here with Perkins, Landrieu, Terrell and a spokesman for the other guy that ran. Perkins showed up with a bus full of his supporters. They heckled the other candidates and their supporters as they entered the restaurant where the forum was to be held. During the question and answer period, his supporters talked loud and interrupted the other senatorial candidates when they would try to answer questions. His supporters tried to ask questions of the other candidates like, "Why do you want to kill little babies?" and "Do you think you'll go to heaven since you support homosexuals". Obviously his "family values" don't extend to dinner table manners. What an idiot!
