Kerry tells veterans that Bush has ignored lessons of Vietnam
http://www.statesman.com/metrostate/content/auto/epaper/editions/today/metro_state_f3b4502ad41662800067.html

<snip>
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld assured veterans Monday that U.S. commanders will have enough troops to combat guerrilla attacks in Iraq, after Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, one of President Bush's Democratic rivals, said the administration had put American troops in "increased harm's way."
--
Earlier at the same podium, Kerry, a decorated Vietnam War veteran and one of nine Democrats seeking the party's nomination for president, said the administration's policies had failed U.S. troops in Iraq while neglecting soldiers who served in past wars.

Hit 'em hard Kerry - it is good he is making THEM respond to HIM.

2. Link to the speech
http://www.johnkerry.com/news/speeches/spc_2003_0825.html

"And what we have learned all points to one central truth that came to us first in the heat and the jungle halfway around the world: We are all responsible for each other."

"One of the most important lessons as a result of Vietnam is that when you decide to go to war, the only exit strategy is called victory – mission accomplished."

"We need to inspire average citizens in Central America and Northern Iraq, Southern Africa and Southeast Asia to look to us for leadership and hope. To ensure that they see us as partners and allies in their struggle for prosperity and inalienable rights, for a better life and basic liberties."

John Kerry - a liberal heart, an astute mind, and unwavering principles.

3. Kerry speaking at the VFW convention forced Bush
to his performance at an American Legion hall today. Funny that Busjh would go out of his way to avoid the VFW convention where he couldn't cherrypick his audience.
