Georgia DINOs Ponder the Senate race.

"Ponder, 48, said he's been approached by both parties about returning to politics, but has so far resisted the idea.

He describes himself as 'a registered Republican,' but he also allows that he's 'very hard to define by political party.'

That's exactly the guy rural Democrats are looking for.

Would Ponder be open to talking about it with Coleman? 'Sure, just like I'd listen to a leader of the Republican Party,' he said."....
<snip>

Just great! Even if Ponder won a Senate race, the first thing he would do would be to switch parties again to join the Republican majority. The Democrats need someone who will define what our party will stand for, not someone who is very hard to define.

I think Speaker Terry Coleman is either looking for a safe way to switch parties in the next election, or he is a deluded sucker when it comes to politics. Either way, he isn't qualified to be Georgia's Democratic leader in the state House.

1. that's all we need
is a registered republican to run as a democrat for the Senate and then as you say he would probably either change parties or use it as leverage to get his way by telling Daschle and company if he doesn't get something he will bolt.

Forget this guy.

3. We don't need this guy
Either Andy Young or Michelle Nunn would be ten times better.
