Senate: GOP trend likely to continue in Kansas
By STEVE KRASKE
The Kansas City Star

<snip>

Barring the unexpected, the streak will continue next year. For the second election in a row, Democrats appear unlikely to nominate a first-tier candidate with a realistic chance of knocking off the Republican, who in this case is Sam Brownback.

In 2002, Democrats nominated no candidate and allowed Sen. Pat Roberts to run unchallenged for a second term.

Several potential Democrats already have backed away. They include Dennis Moore, the three-term incumbent congressman from Lenexa; former congressman Jim Slattery; and Jill Docking, who ran against Brownback in 1996.

Last month, Democrat Dan Glickman, a former agriculture secretary, also declined.

2. This just makes me sick.
I write to Brownback and Roberts continuosly and I have never had a reply that sounded like it didn't come directly from the White House. I personally know Sam Brownback, been to his office in DC and he will NOT respond. I am going to his office Thursday about the $87 billion. Funny, only 11 have signed up from here.
