6. Dukakis?
Lost to George Bush by a landslide in 1988, didn't he?

Listen, I'm easy to impress. All you have to do is stay on message and be direct. Most Americans are a lot more particular than I am. So if I have a problem with the shifting statements of Howard Dean, how do you think he's going to fare in a general election? How much do you think the repugs will like dissecting every conflicting statement he has made throughout the whole campaign, so they can throw his words back in his face? Even Tim Russert took him down a notch or two, do you think that's going to get better?

18. ahem
I met Kucinich in a church. He's one of the most religious candiates out there. So I say ahem :D. Thats how I met Kucinich, you see theres this Methodist Church in DC and Kucinich was there and I checked it out and btw the speech kicked ass, and I went to the stands and I shook his hand as he left. You think Dean is the only one going to church to reach voters? apparently not so.

30. This is true. Mr. Kucinich spends lots of time on his religion(s)...
...which is why, when he was Catholic, he spent so much time opposing a women's right to choose.

Now that he's switched to a New Age stance, he's relaxed that, but I'm not sure I want Kucinich's New Age religion any more than I wanted his catholicism.

I'd rather have religion out of Politics.

32. Did I attack your candiate
All I said was he wasnt the only one speaking in churches. BTW I disagreed with that stance of his but other than that he is a pretty good congressman with issues. Why you have to attack my candiate, I merely pointed out he spoke at a church and that Dean wasnt the only one to. You take everything as an excuse to attack my candiate.

37. No, and I didn't "attack" yours.
I simply stated a fact: Most of his career Kucinich's Catholicism informed his once irresolute opposition to a woman's right to terminate a pregnancy.

Now that Dennis has had a few divorces, he seems to have softened on his willingness to insert his (Catholic) religion into public life. That's fine with me. I'm not about to endorse him for nomination, but his recent change will make it easier to hold my nose and vote for him if by some incredible fluke, he becomes the nominee.

While I don't know you personally, and this thus may not apply to you, I note that many of the Kucinich folks - some of whom are obviously former Nader folks - identify themselves as "progressives" and use this self description to righteously track down every obscure vote or stance they don't like by any of the (in their view) less "progressive" candidates. Sometimes this nonsense is accompanied with a "my way or the highway" threat to vote Green. Thus, this turnabout on a serious issue, women's right, is thus perfectly fair play in my opinion.

Religious pandering, whether by my candidate or someone else's candidate, makes me uncomfortable. It's very clear though, that neither Dennis nor Howard nor Wes nor Carol, nor John nor John... would function at quite the same level of Ayatollahism as the current occupant of the White House and his disciples. For this reason both they, and all the other Democratic Candidates (if you don't count Lieberman as a Democrat) would be infinitely superior to Bush. Hell, I'll go wild here and say that even Holy Joe would be preferable.

One thing is sure; I will support the nominee whether he's my man Dean or someone else, even if he's your guy.

33. Dennis's early catholic influence is what shaped his social views
especially his concern for the poor and disenfranchised. Many Catholics were raised with strong liberal values and shouldn't be so quickly dismissed. There were thousands of nuns and priests behind the grape boycotts and the antiwar protests. The values of Catholicism are a great springboard for liberal politics.

Yes, there has been a surge to the right, and sometimes they don't mix well at all, but, there are still many who cling to the valuable lessons of the Kucinich, Kerry, Kennedy type of Catholicism.

But isn't it also wrong to cut back on Medicaid funding for poor children, too?

22. Pro-Dean thread needs a kick
Edited on Wed Oct-22-03 05:34 PM by kwolf68
Here is a pro-Dean thread that is nothing but cheerleading (which is fine) and I count ZERO Kerry people bashing him.

Imagine if this thread would have been a Pro-John Kerry thread.

There would be not 21 posts, but 121...21 from pro-Kerry people and 100 from Dean people bashing Kerry.

Hell, even a simple little endorsement of Kerry by 2 Arizona politicians has inspired at least 2 Dean fruits to come in with their gentile’s hanging out spraying everywhere.

there's no bashing being done by Kerry supporters, you end up bashing Dean supporters.

you're no better than those you attempt to criticize.

btw, DrFunkenstein is a Kerry supporter and he posts anti-Dean messages in every pro-Dean thread (including this one), and starts an awful lot of anti-Dean threads as well.

25. Pointing out facts

Dean folks are saying Kerry people are bashing Dean all over the place and Dean people aren't.

And in spending some time observing the boards, what the Dean people have been saying is completely bogus.

The 2 or 3 lastest pro-Kerry threads have been turned into mush by Dean folks. I see that the same IS NOT happening for the pro-Dean threads.

Im fucking tired of it. The lies and hypocrasy. I want to go into the pro-Dean threads and just check it out and maybe not post or give him props, but I CANT GO INTO ANY Kerry threads w/o you people fucking it up with your garbage.

Every freaking one....Not just one, but every single one turns into some trash.

So if I screw this thread up in some way (something I do not want to do), consider it your reaping what you sow.

Edited on Wed Oct-22-03 07:01 PM by kwolf68
I'd probably be a huge Dean supporter.

I have exposed on another thread the mis-information of Dean people...The lies about Kerrys supporters. The threads on this forum RIGHT THIS MINUTE speak for themselves.

Ostensibly pro-Kerry threads are a bash. Pro Dean threads pretty much open season, all nice and lovely. Only mention of Kerry in the "Dean Amry" thread is a Kerry bash. LMAO.

I admire your dedication and devotion to this man, a blind devotion that saps the EEG waves so needed to properly wipe the spittle of our chins, but don't come off with this "woe is me" garbage. You people have run roughshod over this forum and when someone decides to call you on it, you can't handle it with truth or facts.

I honestly believe that if Howard Dean came out tomorrow and said he was Green, you'd be green...and I honestly believe if he came out the day after that and said he was Libertarian, you'd be Libertarian....and I honestly believe if he came out the day after that and said he was socialist, you'd be socialist....and I honestly believe if he came out the day after that and said he was Republican, you'd be Republican. <<< You get the point? The real intellectual workings of the Democratic Party ain't happenin' at Dean HQ.

Frankly plenty of us are quite capable of playing nice. I'll admit there are those that can't but I can think of very few that write shit like this smearing all supporters of other candidates. Do you have ANY idea how many times it's been insinuated I joined a cult?
I admit today the forum has alot of fluff and few bashing threads. But you sure have been paying enough attention to have seen what it's been like recently. And don't worry... I know at least one person who will kick up his threads and post some more out of spite.
