what is your state's voting method?
here in nyc (well, where i vote anyway) we have the booth-- turn the metal switch for your party. i usually run my finger down the Democrat line and pull that lever, with all my strength, to the left. very symbolic ;-)

it's strange that there isn't a standard for voting. it would be simple, but yet it is not implemented. doesn't that strike anyone else as odd? why not take something that works and is reliable, and use it across the country?

10. Here in WPB county
Harris and Jebby scrap the black vote. That's the FLA method. Touchscreens, punchcards....no difference.

3. In NYC - like you. Pataki will bring Diebold in soon - don't worry!
Right after Bloomberg buys a vote for non-partisan elections in NYC! They are slaughtering us - and we are just sitting there and taking it!

4. Michigan has five, I think.
My precinct uses regular ballots that you mark, and I guess they're scanned.

5. we have paper ballots that are counted by putting them into a feeder
machine thing. I would imagine the rest of
Alaska is that way too. Oregon has statewide
mail in balloting.

11. In sm. town Maine it is paper.
In little bigger places more up to date stuff is around. I would be happy to see the mark on the paper come back.It is easy, cheap, little slower, can keep a record. I am sure it is the news that wants to know the vote 2 min. after the lights go out. Lets go back to the old cheap way and just have yo wait a few hr. for the count.

13. For Federal, State and County elections...
... we use the infamous punchcard method. For municipal, school board, township, special questions (referenda), etc., we use paper ballots. Beginning with next March's primary, we will use the optical scanning method, as will all adjoining counties.
