Is the Eastern news media giving enough attention to the SoCal fires?

It seems to me that natural disasters out West are treated as a nuisance by the Eastern news media. Does anybody here think that the national media would have been just absolutely hysterical if these fires were taking place in the NYC, Philadelphia or Boston suburbs? The summer blackout generated continuous news coverage, as did the Beltway snipers (once they moved EAST). All day long today, the big networks and the cable news channels have been far more concerned with such life-threatening matters as the NFL, Golf amd Sunday morning yak shows. Why have the programs not been pre-empted for fire coverage? Those of us with relatives and friends in SoCal would like to know. This Eastern-centricness needs to stop.

Just flashed through all the local stations and not one is covering the fires right now.

3. A few stations are on it now.
Fortunately we're away from any of the fires.
