Tenet Defends Bush Administration, Saying It Didn't Misconstrue Facts on Iraq
The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) - CIA Director George Tenet said he spoke to Bush administration officials when he felt inaccurate statements were being made about the threat posed by Iraq, but said he doesn't believe the administration misrepresented facts to justify the war.
"I engage with them every day," Tenet told the Senate Armed Services Committee. "If there are areas where I thought someone said something they shouldn't say, I talk to them about it."
Under sharp questioning by Democrats on the committee Tuesday, the CIA director did acknowledge that on more than one occasion he has noted questionable statements in defense of war by Vice President Dick Cheney. <snip>

But Kansas City is more truthfull than the AP -as noted in a DU post by TryingToWarnYou

CIA Says Cheney Was Wrong

This is fantastic...I guess screwing the intelligence agencies wasn't a good idea eh Georgie? Now, this sort of thing needs to be kept going and a real investigation launched. It's obvious from Tenets statements that Cheney was willfully lying to the American people. Of course, it wasn't about a blowjob so I don't expect many folks to care.http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/8146447.htm ...Tenet at first appeared to defend the administration, saying that he did not think the White House misrepresented intelligence provided by the CIA. The administration's statements, he said, reflected a prewar intelligence consensus that Hussein had stockpiled chemical and biological weapons and was pursuing nuclear bombs. But under sharp questioning by Sen. Edward Kennedy, a Massachusetts Democrat, Tenet reversed himself, saying there had been instances when he had warned administration officials that they were misstating the threat posed by Iraq....Levin also questioned Tenet about a Jan. 9 interview with the Rocky Mountain News of Denver, in which Cheney cited a November article in The Weekly Standard, a conservative magazine, as “the best source of information” on cooperation between Hussein and al-Qaida.The article was based on a leaked top-secret memorandum. It purportedly set out evidence, compiled by a special Pentagon intelligence cell, that Hussein was in league with al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden. It was written by Douglas Feith, undersecretary of defense for policy, the third-highest Pentagon official and a key proponent of the war.“Did the CIA agree with the contents of the Feith document?” Levin asked.“Senator, we did not clear the document,” Tenet replied. “We did not agree with the way the data was characterized in that document.”Tenet, who pointed out that the Pentagon, too, had disavowed the document, said he learned of the article Monday night, and he planned to speak with Cheney about the CIA's view of the Feith document.Lots and lots more good stuff in the article.

1. Tenet was clearly lying and squirming...
Kennedy was awesome. The republicans immediately apologized to Tenet and complimented his outstanding work, and pointed out that many of the questions of the panel were based on political and election year rhetoric. What a bunch of bastards. Republicans on the panel were upset at the tough questions. Doyle's wife (what's her name?) was on the panel and only asked 'yes or no' questions from Tenet. Framing the questions so that Tenet would look good and not expand on the questions. She was so stupid. I didn't even recognized her. What's wrong with all those women? They'll all trying to look like Hillary. Her poofey hair ala evangelical pink lady, is now more like Hillary's.

The author of this artilce had it in the paper on March 9th and 10th.

Almost the exact same article with a few words changed like Tenet acknowledge and Tenet admitted, but the the caption was changed too.
