How to tell your 17 yr old daughter about Shrub's* lies
I saw an article recently with the title "How tell tell your 17 year old daughter about iraq and Bush's lies." I cannot find it now. I have searched DU and several other sites like Buzzflash. Does anyone have that handy? I want to send it to a Freeper friend of a friend of mine.

1. a 17 year old can read a book on it.......
don't TELL them what to think.......

Give them the tools so that they can think it through themselves and inquire with questions, if they have it......

17......almost voting age.

2. The article was a satirical takeoff
....on the all the right wing stuff about talking to you children about Bill Clinton's evil penis. It was tongue in cheek but with a serious message at the same time.

I taught my children to think. The greatest gift you can give them is the ability to reason and reject irrational thought.

3. Just the facts, ma'am
How hard is it to present facts? My youngest (11) has a better understanding of events than most adults.

10. Best way to get them to vote for Bush...
is to tell them not to. Unless kidsare naturally inclined to contempate politics, do try to spoon fed-up. They'll spit the bit and run the other way. Just because you don't want them to.

8. Be honest
Why tell her only one person "lied"?

Bush is not the first president to identify Iraq as a problem,
and post-Sept 11, the security landscape changed radically.

Here are some hard-to-swallow quotes:

"In the next century, the community of nations may see more and
more the very kind of threat Iraq poses now -- a rogue state with
weapons of mass destruction ready to use them or provide them to
terrorists, drug traffickers or organized criminals who travel the
world among us unnoticed.

If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in
his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow by the knowledge that they
can act with impunity, even in the face of a clear message from the
United Nations Security Council and clear evidence of a weapons of
mass destruction program."

Teach her the facts, and to look at all the facts honestly.

I'd want a daughter who can think critically, and not only view the
world through an ideologically-narrowed prism.
