IT'S OVER! [United Farm Workers]
I've been a supporter and occasional contributor to the Farm Workers Union for a long
time, and have walked a few miles in some of their rallies & demonstrations. I was
delighted to find in my mail this morning, an envelope from them with: "IT'S OVER!" in
giant letters across it. The letter started with:

"Dear Friend, It's over. The Pict-Sweet boycott has ended. The workers have won. After a
17 year battle, they have a union contract --- thanks in large part to help from
committed friends like you.

Supporters throughout the country stood by the United farm Workers of America as we
fought many fierce battles for the employees of the Ventura, California, company, who had
worked throughout a contract since 1987."

4. Sorry,
I usually double-check such things, but I got careless this time. Try it again, and click on: "Mushrooms".

Pictsweet Boycott called off after workers win contract!

You don't have to boycott Pictsweet mushrooms any more. Farm workers at Pictsweet Mushroom Farm in Ventura, Calif. have won their 17-year battle for a United Farm Workers union contract. It is the first time California farm workers have benefited from a landmark 2002 state law providing for binding mediation when growers drag out negotiations. The UFW and the Pictsweet workers express their gratitude to all who helped them over the year with their support both on- and off-line.
On Feb. 13, the California Agricultural Labor Relations Board adopted a report from a state mediator deciding the terms of a union contract for Pictsweet mushroom workers who have labored without a union contract since 1987. Pictsweet officials decided not to appeal the decision.
