Hot. hot. hot.
My best July 4th was when I was 8. Playing softball in my grandma's yard with my cousins. That was 48 years ago.
there is a permanent fire ban now. No fireworks, even if we had them.
Going to have a little shindig, however.
We got the wind mills built. 3 of them. At first the military objected, but then we showed them how to make them and they went away. funny how that works. Now they have them at high school. aka their base.
The rumor of an energy coop vanished into the ether. That's a shame.
Connie's daughter is a wiz with raw foods. She's teaching us and the neighbors all sorts of things. Nice to have that on cloudy days when I can't solar cook.
The neighborhood association has agreed to dig a large tornado bunker slash root cellar. That starts next week.
We actually have some wheat growing, but it's really water intensive. Rains been good so far. It would be nice to have real bread again.
Dave got some parts via the black market for his short wave.
The black market has become popular needless to say.
Things have heated up in Canada. It appears as if the Russians have some designs on Canada. A small border war erupted, but then quieted down.
Since the assassination in Mexico, anything can happen down there. News blackout, even on the shortwave.
Dave got a bounce signal from Italy. Jorge could make out some of it. Something about London flooding. Signals weak. Got to take a poll of languages people can speak here.
Denver has been cordoned off.
Aside from that, things are putting along.
This is not really how I envisioned my retirement, but then again, I never thought was going to be able to retire and believed I would be chained to my desk till I died. I think this is a bit better. At least I'm outdoors :).
Times up.
