Image of collapsed sheet metal Entergy would like to see disappear

(OK, so I cheat a bit... We've all seen that collapse cooling tower so often, I decided to throw in something a little different, yet still relevant. There's a law in Vermont where you can be naked in a public place, as long as you're not partaking in lude or offensive behavior. Just a few days ago PeTA took full advantage of that opportunity, perhaps inspired by Isabel Vinson making the cover of the Brattleboro Reformer a few months ago bearing all for the cause of shutting down Vermont Yankee. They organized their action right across the street from our friends at Save The Corporations. Store manager Ian Kiehle offered models Meggan Anderson and Ali Cayer some hemp clothing if they needed it... We here, at Green Nuclear Butterfly applaud PeTA for their efforts, and can't wait to organize a joint action... How about it PeTA? Animals are sick of radiation too! Click here for the video. Sanders is right on VY

Friday, October 5

The image of collapsed sheet metal, splintered wood and water cascading from a huge broken pipe is one that Entergy Nuclear would like to see disappear.

But that image, taken after the collapse of a 50-foot cooling tower at Vermont Yankee on Aug. 21, was blown up to poster size and displayed at Wednesday's hearing of the U.S. Senate's Subcommittee on Clean Air, Climate Change and Nuclear Energy.

<snip>

Sen. Bernard Sanders, I-Vt., showed NRC Chairman Dale Klein the image of the cooling tower collapse and asked, "If you were living in southern Vermont, or New Hampshire, or northern Massachusetts, would you have confidence in the NRC after this series of events?"

<snip>

Because of the very real feeling that the NRC functions as a rubber stamp for the nuclear industry, Sanders has introduced legislation that would give states the right to ask for independent safety assessments at all of the nation's nuclear reactors.

1. And they're being helped by Hillary's chief campaign strategist

Yep, Entergy's a major account for Mark Penn's outfit, Burson Marsteller.

3. In fact though, there is not ONE anti-nuke who gives a rat's ass about the cooling towers at Drax.
In fact the anti-nuke industry is trying to destroy the world's largest source of climate change free form of energy because

1) It gets huge payoffs from the dangerous fossil fuel industry.

2) Because it cannot make simple comparisons.

3) Because it is a religion that tries to bend the science to fit the assumption, rather than make the assumption fit the observation.

We here a lot from anti-nukes about cooling towers - but only if they are in nuclear plants. The mindless bought off anti-nuke industry likes to pretend that their dangerous fossil fuel friends don't use cooling towers.

For instance, the Drax coal station, which is one of the largest pollution sources on earth, which emits more dangerous fossil fuel waste than many nations all by its little self, has huge cooling towers.

Here's a picture of some of them.

These cooling towers could fall, crushing everyone in the pictured houses and the anti-nuke industry would not say shit, because the anti-nuke industry couldn't care less.

In fact, the dangeous anti-nuke industry, which makes such a loud shitting sound whenever there is a leaky pipe in any nuclear plant anywhere on earth - witness the vast amount of whining and crying and distortion and outright lying that went on with the Japanese earthquake that killed every one in Japan - couldn't care less about leaky pipes in dangerous fossil fuel plants.

For instance, here is a another picture of the dangerous fossil fuel plant at Drax, with just one of the leaky pipes located in the center of the picture:

The leaky pipe in the center of a picture is so ordinary and so common that the dangerous fossil fuel/anti-nuke industry couldn't care less that it leaks millions and millions of tons of dangerous fossil fuel waste into the atmosphere each year. The say "It's 'just' a smokestack."

Note that the Drax plant can get an environmental stamp of approval from Amory Lovins for the relatively low price of $20,000/day, just like Walmart, just like Royal Dutch Shell. Gazprom pays somewhat less, only 300,000 euros per year, for the anti-nuke fossil fuel shill Gerhard Schroeder.

The anti-nuke industry has succeeded in making the world safe for fossil fuels in Maine and in Oregon, and getting scientifically illiterate Greenpeace types to cheer for it.

The nuclear plants destroyed by the dangerous anti-nuke industry, fossil fuel shill industry in Oregon, Maine, Sacramento, and now Germany were all replaced by dangerous fossil fuels in a classic game of bait and switch.

Vermont is right now the only state in the union that produces almost no dangerous fossil fuel waste to generate electricity. The anti-nuke industry can't take it, because it is a collection of gutless, immoral, indifferent paid off shills.

Environmentalists here in New Jersey will fight to save our Oyster Creek nuclear station from the abysmal ignorance of the highly paid (off) anti-nuke industry. I suggest that Vermonters do the same. Every single gram of dangerous fossil fuels that is burned to "replace" the nuclear plant will impact every single human being now living and all those who remain to be born. It is a moral responsibility to fight ignorance, to confront it and call it out and state exactly in no uncertain terms, what it is.
