US Energy Secretary - It's Time To Stop Wasting Energy
Good idea, Sam! :eyes:

STAMFORD - The U.S. secretary of energy met with government and business leaders at UBS headquarters in downtown Stamford yesterday, saying the country has wasted its resources and it is time to use energy in a smarter way.

"It goes beyond good public relations," Samuel Bodman said of efforts by businesses to use less energy and shift from burning fossil fuels to cleaner sources. "It's becoming increasingly clear that it will help the bottom line."

U.S. Rep. Christopher Shays, R-Bridgeport, joined Bodman as Stamford Mayor Dannel Malloy and members of the Business Council of Fairfield County presented their efforts to reduce energy use and promote environmentally friendly development projects. Bodman and Shays toured UBS North American headquarters at 677 Washington Blvd., where parts of the building were redesigned to increase energy efficiency.

The changes - including installing sensors that modify light levels and devices that better regulate air temperature and flow - saved 4.4 million kilowatts a year, or about 4 percent of the company's annual usage, said Warren Belt of UBS.

3. You think more people are learning about peak oil??
This is too funny.. I guess they want the US consumers to change their ways that have been developed over the past 30 years(consumerism) and now try to save energy??

Future generations are so fucked its unbelieveable..

5. A coworker of mine just asked me about Peak Oil last night
He said he ordered a movie from NetFlix about Peak Oil and should watch it this weekend. I'm really looking forward to our discussion next week to see if it really starts to sink in.

4. "If we're going to continue to grow the county, we have to have reliable energy," he said.
"This is a systematic change in thinking."

No it isn't.

"Joe McGee, vice president of public policy with the business council, said the days of conflict between environmental and economic issues are over."

No they aren't.

We have to attempt to control more of the environment to increase economic production. That's the way we did it, are doing it, and will have to continue to do it. We're part of the physical world. Everything we do has an impact.

Now that we want to control all forms of energy(and not just get lucky and find a concentrated form of it without having to do anything), that conflict between environmental and economic issues hasn't even started yet.

6. sweet fancy moses
"It's becoming increasingly clear that (efficiency) will help the bottom line."

Its been CRYSTAL-FU**ING-CLEAR from the beginning you asshole but all those elitist, holier-than-thou economists wouldnt hear it. "We know whats best for business and resource efficincy aint it." Thats the line we've been fed for the last 150 years. NOW they're strating to realize what reasonalbly intelligent people have been saying all a long. "A penny saved is a penny earned." Ever heard of that one dipshit?

:argh:

"We never could have predicted this" should be the new motto of big business and the GOP. I swear its like dealing with whiny 6-year-olds all day, full of nothing but bullshit and excuses.

</rant>

I feel better now, thanks :)
