Hasn't the White House learned anything? Apparently not, since they've just been caught editing yet another scientist in their effort to minimise the dangers of climate change (not Jim Hansen this time).
Who was it? Dr. Julie Gerberding, the head of the CDC, who had her fourteen page strongly worded report on the dangers of climate change to your and my health censored edited by the Bush administration to six milquetoast un-post-consumer-recycled pages.
From the CNN report:
The White House severely edited congressional testimony given Tuesday by the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the impact of climate change on health, removing specific scientific references to potential health risks, according to two sources familiar with the documents.
Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Atlanta-based CDC, the government's premier disease monitoring agency, told a Senate hearing that climate change "is anticipated to have a broad range of impacts on the health of Americans."
But her prepared testimony was devoted entirely to the CDC's preparation, with few details on what effects climate change could have on the spread of disease.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/10/24/global.warming.ap/index.htmlThe report was described as eviscerated by a CDC official.
I'd say that was a rather good description of what is happening to all of us.
