LISBON (Reuters) - Energias de Portugal (EDP) is considering investments in wind power in a number of countries, including Morocco, Italy and Canada, Chief Executive Antonio Mexia said on Tuesday.

EDP, the world's fourth largest wind power company, has forecast capital expenditure on wind power of 6.2 billion euros ($9.1 billion) between 2007 and 2010.

Mexia told journalists at a biodiversity conference that Britain and eastern Europe are other places where the company is considering wind power investments. "When we have news on this, we will let you know," he said.

EDP has said that in 2010 it hopes that renewable energy will make up 28 percent of its installed electricity capacity, up from 7 percent currently.
