Anyone have an opinion on the best AA rechargeable batteries on the market?
My girlfriend and I go through about 8 Energizer rechargeables a year (she is a CD player junkie and I play a lot of video games), and near the end of that year they have trouble holding charge for long. I've noticed that there are now "hybrid" rechargeable batteries out there that promise to hold a charge like an alkaline, but can still be recharged hundreds of times. I've seen Eneloop, PowerEx, Duracell, and Rayovac advertising hybrid NiMH's. Anyone have good or bad results using these? Thanks.

1. Rechargable alkalines are virtually worthless
Particularly in electronics of any kind. I've found that NiMH batteries are much better (I use them in my digicam, CD player, etc). I haven't tried any of the lithium batteries yet.

3. There are some applications for which rechargeable alkalines are necessary
Some devices simply won't accept the lower voltages supplied by NiCd/NiMH cells.

5. Absolutely
I just meant they were "worthless" as far as how long they lasted between charges. If they're necessary for a particular device/application that's a different issue.

2. I got this thing
called the Globe Trotter. It comes with 4 rechargeable AA batteries and different adapters for travel. I use it for mostly my camera but I've had it for two years and it still does a great job and recharges very quickly. I just looked at the batteries and they don't really say anything about a brand but say 2700mAh if that means anything to you. I got it at overstock.com

4. 2700mAh (milliAmpere hours) is pretty good for a NiMH AA
The highest I've seen is 2900mAh.

6. Okay - you may as well have been
speaking Greek right there to me. I hope I was helpful.

7. Greek translated
mAh - milliampere hours
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ampere-hour

Basically, it's a measure of how much of a charge it can hold. (A larger number is generally better.)

I just did some research on rechargables and got the slow discharge NiMh and a Maha recharger.

Among "battery geeks" Thomas distributing is considered the best battery supplier on the web.
