Lowell High School (MI) hosts 'green' prom
Edited on Tue Apr-13-10 04:46 AM by UrbScotty
From MLive:

But Lowell High’s prom will have a twist: The school is hosting its first “green” prom, an attempt to tread more lightly on a night that is typically, well, heavy on the excess.

Ordering tickets, booking the venue, decorations, food, entertainment and chaperones: planning prom already takes a ton of hard work, Lowell adviser Sarah Ellis said.

Planning a green prom takes even more work when you have to consider what kind of paper the tickets are printed on, where the food comes from, what to do with leftovers and how to get an estimated 600 students from Lowell to the Lakeshore without leaving behind a big ol’ carbon footprint.

“But it’s worth it,” Ellis said.
