Deepwater Horizon Blowout: This is What the End of the Oil Age Looks Like
A couple of adages from the old-timers are worth quoting: “Cut corners all you want, but never downhole,” and, “There’s fast, there’s cheap, and there’s right, and you get to pick two.”

There will be plenty of blame to go around, as events leading up to the fatal rig explosion are sorted out. Even if efforts to plug the gushing leak succeed sooner rather than later, the damage to the Gulf environment and to the economy of the region will be incalculable and will linger for years if not decades.

1. Good bye and good riddance to the Age of Oil
Please, please, please let us move on with a sustainable model.

2. The Petroleum Mafia and Cartels have done EVERYTHING in their powers to limit any sustainable model

that they do not control and will not profit from. From ordering their puppet politicians to fight to deny improving gas mileage in cars, to doing everything possible to marginalize renewable fuel resources, the Petroleum Mafia has flexed it's unmatched muscles. Maybe now the world, and especially the US, which is it's biggest enabler and customer, will see the drug dealer for what it truly is: a merchant of death and destruction, motivated solely by power and profit.

At this point people would be nuts to eat Gulf seafood. This opinion is not based on rigorous scientific testing. It is based on the pictures of all the goddamn oil and chemicals in the ocean.

4. Don't worry ...
... I'm sure that the US authorities will get round the problem in
the same way that they handle BSE in beef: deny it exists, refuse
to do any significant testing and prohibit anyone from proving that
their own produce is safe.

No need to worry, there will soon be enough gullible people to get
the industry going again (whilst being sure to blame any illness on
"substandard imports").

:hi:
