Live Comment Thread with Top Kill Video at The Oil Drum
link: http://www.theoildrum.com/node/6511

The WKRG "live" feeds is posted below; the NPR feed is posted "under the fold" (click "there's more" below). It is the same as the BP feed, which can be found here, but it seems pretty dicey and keeps going offline.

We encourage you to comment in this thread only to document what you see going on or to add information. Keep it on point, please.

1. Ah, the oil drum...the website devoted to the evil and ridiculous claim that we will all die without
oil.

2. um, actually no...
the point of TOD is that we need to get off our asses and do something prior to the point of being unable to do anything about a declining supply of oil.

If anything, we're trying to sound a clarion call that things need to be done to ameliorate the situation with speed than is currently the case...

3. Like I said...
...I have no patience whatsoever for the notion that oil is so essential to life that we "...have to do something..."

For what purpose?

There are billions of people living on this planet right now who have very little access to oil. Have they all died?

The technology and policy for banning oil is pretty straight forward, not easy - it may involve fewer trips to the country club - but nevertheless technologically straight forward.

I personally find the Oil Drum/Kunstler/Peak Oil scare sheets to be responsible for the shit we're seeing right now.

I have long favored a fast rise in the price of oil to reflect its external costs. If we had to pay these external costs, we'd have been done with oil years ago. We can now add to these external costs, the complete destruction of an important inland sea.
