Texas Environment Agency Fines 70 Violators: Average Fine - $4725.93

Texas Commission on Environmental Quality commissioners penalized 70 environmental offenders on Wednesday, including a Polk County wastewater treatment and public water supply.

TCEQ assessed the 70 offenders a total $330,815 for violations of state environmental regulations.

Septic Hydro-Tec, located at 38 East FM Road 1998 in Goodrich, was cited for occupational certification violations during a routine investigation on Feb. 14, according to TCEQ. Septic Hydro was making repairs on both the public water supply system and the wastewater system of the city without proper certification for its employees, according to TCEQ. The company was neither registered as a wastewater nor public water systems operations company, TCEQ records state.

TCEQ commissioners on Thursday assessed a total fine of $500, deferring $100 if the company pays quickly. Commissioners also ordered the company, "cease performing repairs to the collection system and all other wastewater treatment operational activities until proper licenses and registration have been obtained."
