Heard a radio interview (Coast to Coast) last night about this company, in its infant stages....
http://www.worldsnest.com/ As a result of a previous interview, Plarr was contacted by many scientists interested in environmental technologies, and they have pooled ideas, resources, over his kitchen table, and just in the last six weeks have signed major contracts with foreign countries. Their interest is sustainable living, and at the current time they make deals with a handshake over Plarr's kitchen table in his fully off the grid home. They are interested in selling and retrofitting homes to make them "off the grid" using combinations of every currently known technology.
They were talking about "pods" to be sold for energy, the components of which were dependent on the location, but which would include solar, wind power, hydrogen pumps, fuel cells, ethanol. They also talk about rain forests for every house, from which water may be taken from the atmosphere. There would also be plumbing "pods", etc.
There are already working models for these things. They need money, manufacturing, and contractors.
Again, though, there are contracts signed already for cleanup of ocean tankers fuel, for instance, for adding hydrogen to fuel.
As a result of the last radio program, the NASA scientist who had a really efficient solar system added his team.
It sounds like a great project.
