We need more power plants and newer pipelines
We haven't built any powerplants since 1979 I think.

Why haven't we?

1. we are building
"peaker" plants . smaller generating plants that come on line when needed.usually fired by natural gas. wind power is catching on around northern il. right now. two or three fields are being built right now and more to come. one small village, about 200, is completely solar powered , they either sell excess or buy when needed. a major nat. gas pipeline from canada was completed a few yrs. ago thru the middle of the us.

3. to run on what?
we are quickly running out of natural gas in the U.S. and will face an energy crisis. The real solution will be to become much more efficient in our energy usage.

4. Behind the Blackout
"Energy Investment Banker, Government Energy Advisor and CFR member Matthew Simmons offers candid and explosive observations on the Northeast Blackout, Peak Oil and Gas and tells the truth about America's energy supplies. Will politicians rise to the challenge? Simmons says, "What that means in the starkest possible terms is that we are no longer going to be able to grow. It's like with a human being who passes a certain age in life. Getting older does not mean the same thing as death. It means progressively diminishing capacity, a rapid decline, followed by a long tail."

5. What Does ELF Think?
I wonder if the ELF is also against power plants which pollute our air?
They should change things through the court system and by popular
mandates from the people. The only thing I don't agree with them on
are their tactics(which are against the law). Would they protest a
nuclear power plant?
