Small Australian Town Isolated By Floods Receives Emergency Beer Shipment - AFP
Residents of a small Australian town cut off by this week's floods received more than just essentials Wednesday when emergency workers dropped off a large amount of beer.

Hinton has been isolated since Sunday by surging floodwaters following days of severe storms which left nine people dead and caused millions of dollars of damage. The township's 400 residents were anxious that the pub would run dry ahead of Wednesday night's much-anticipated rugby league match between New South Wales and Queensland states.

But State Emergency Service volunteers, who have been bringing bread, milk, medication, newspapers and other essentials to the town in two flat-bottomed flood boats, came to their rescue. "There was some extra room on a boat after the essentials were loaded this morning," SES spokesman Philip Campbell said.

"So they will be able to watch the game and have a cold one tonight."

4. I wonder if this will help their drought situation -
not their beer drought - the water drought.
