Ivory Coast's authorities have detained senior army and police officials in a crackdown linked to an alleged Paris-based plot to kill the president, local newspapers and human rights officials said on Friday.
The alleged plot and its political fallout have cast fresh doubt on the future of a power-sharing unity government, formed after a French-brokered peace deal was agreed in January to end civil war in the world's biggest cocoa grower.
Scores of people have been detained in the main city Abidjan since France announced this week it had scotched a scheme to destabilise its former West African colony and arrested a group of mercenaries in Paris.
