US gives stark warning to Eritrea

BBC News, Addis Ababa

The US has issued Eritrea with its strongest warning
yet over its alleged support for terrorism.

A senior US official said the presence of an exiled
Somali Islamist leader in Asmara this week was further
evidence Eritrea gave sanctuary to terrorists.

The gathering of further intelligence could lead to
Eritrea being named as a state sponsor of terrorism -
followed by sanctions, the official said.

The US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs,
Jendayi Frazer, said the presence of Hassan Dahir Uways
at a meeting in Asmara was further evidence that Eritrea
provided sanctuary for terrorists.

1. We have effed around in Eritrea for decades.
CIA, Special Ops, etc.

Playing the Eritreans against the Ethiopians against the Somali.

There must be something in Somalia that we want really badly.

2. Eritrea not only has oil

3. Pardon my ignorance...
but by those charts, I see more un-tappped gas than at a (well, eff it. I wrote a lot of things here that would have only brought me grief) lot of countries, shall we say.

With the price of oil where it is, LNG is looking better every day.

4. You're not ignorant.
I'm just expressing my own skepticism about the administration's hard line against terrorism, whether the nation in question is Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran or Eritrea.
