Metrorail reels after day of bloody violence - SA
At least 35 people have been brutally attacked and a woman raped as sacked Metrorail security guards wage war against their former employer.

Most of those injured are other security guards of Metrorail's contractor, Aza Day And Night Security.

They have allegedly been assaulted by guards who were fired after an illegal protest.

Eight hired guards were savagely beaten at Khayelitsha, Nyanga and Lentegeur stations on Wednesday.

'What I know is that there is war'

Some suffered broken ribs or arms and one person needed 80 stitches after an attack.

The attacks have put the safety of commuters at risk, as guards fearing assault failed to man some stations.
