Minerals and massacres

Despite the presence of UN peacekeepers, massacres are continuing in northeastern Congo. The bodies of dozens more victims of mass slaughter were found earlier this week, many of them children. The discovery has focused international attention on the strife-torn Ituri province.

UN team finds 65 bodies in eastern DR of Congo

The United Nations peacekeeping operation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has discovered 65 bodies, mostly children, apparently massacred Monday, a UN spokesman said today.

ReliefWeb page on general happenings in Central Africa

More than three million have died so far, with countless others displaced, and funny thing, no one seems to notice. Where are the front page stories? If anyone talks about it, the tone is "well, there go those crazy black savages, killing each other again" -- no analysis, no cause and effect, just This Is What Savages Do, Right? I find it astonishing. Though I probably shouldn't.

1. I try to stay current on this issue
But with so much misery piling up right in our own back yard it is
hard to give ample time and thought to every abomination
man inflicts on his fellow man. Thanks for the update.

But I suddenly realized after the fact that I didn't see any child soldiers in the last eps...
