UK pair killed under the cover of darkness

Hargeisa - Two British teachers were killed by gunmen at their residence in a school in north-west Somalia, police and officials said on Tuesday.

It was the second murder of a foreign worker in north-west Somalia this month. An Italian aid worker was killed on October 5.

Police said the pair were killed on Monday night as they were watching television in their sitting room in the school in Somaliland, a breakaway enclave in Somalia.

Somaliland officials named the pair as Richard Eyeington, 62, headmaster of the Sheikh Secondary School, and his wife Enid, 61, who worked as a teacher at the school in the town of Sheikh. Both worked for a children's charity called SOS.
