Between the American success in Sudan, which is also a success for Sudan, and the American failure in Iraq which is a failure for Iraq as well, the war stops. Bashir is also expected to reach a similar settlement in Darfour which is facing an increasing humanitarian and economic crisis.

This leads us to two results: the rejection of war policies, whether American or not, even if their target was a regime like that of Saddam Hussein, and the second is welcoming pressure, be it American or not, when it targets a case of despotism and/or a civil war.

Colin Powell is accused of being a submissive employee, described by Bob Woodward as an extension of the old school in American politics that puts diplomacy before fighting and fears wars; considering them a threat to the established structure of peace and an invitation for uncontrollable chaos. This contradicts the new school that took over the Pentagon whose legacy is the glorification of war precisely because it is a threat to the structure of peace, which is established but fake.
