Bomb in Chechnya kills nine

Still busy in Chechnya, smaller splatters is all. A
two day firefight with dozens dead in the SW, too. I love
this little quote: "Right now, the action has practically entered its final stage".

AFP - Nine Russian federal soldiers were killed near the Chechen
capital, Grozny, when a remote-controlled bomb exploded close to
their vehicle, Russian military officials told the Interfax news
agency.

The bomb was hidden inside a car by the side of the road, and
went off as a column of military vehicles drove by Thursday
afternoon, Interfax reported.

Two soldiers were wounded in the attack.

Separately, military officials said a deadly battle between federal
troops and rebels near the south-eastern town of Avtury had
subsided.
