An NRA Friend Fires Back At Certain Critics
Hard to find much of anyone anywhere defending the National Rifle Association's enemies list...but if onne keeps digging, eventually one does...

And what a pal, too....

"Jews Launch Campaign To Destroy NRA
Complain That Group Is Accurately Reporting Their Anti-Gun Views
Note that the Jewish groups named are not surprised at being called anti-gun, because they are anti-gun, so what are the Jews complaining about again? Are they just writing the article in an attempt to demonize the NRA, while having no substance to it?"

1. Failing to tar the NRA as racist, MrBenchley tries for anti-Semitic
What will you try when this one fails? May I suggest homophobia?

3. Fails?
Gee, slack, this shows exactly the sort of folks the NRA's enemies list was made to appeal to.

"May I suggest homophobia?"
Wouldn't be the first time for that, either....ever read Heston's speech to those far right wing loonies?

"I know, I know... it is not easy. Imagine being point man for the National Rifle Association, preserving the right to keep and bear arms. ...I find my blood pressure rising when Clinton's cultural shock troops participate in homosexual-rights fund-raisers but boycott gun-rights fund-raisers... and then claim it's time to place homosexual men in tents with Boy Scouts, and suggest that sperm donor babies born into lesbian relationships are somehow better served and more loved."

http://www.vpc.org/nrainfo/speech.html

"The National Rifle Association's annual convention in Reno, Nev., degenerated on Sunday into a session of gay-bashing, with one commentator referring to anti-gun talk show host Rosie O'Donnell as a "freak" for her recent admission that she's a lesbian.
During a two-hour panel discussion attacking the media for distorting the views of gun-rights proponents, all but one speaker took an opportunity to slam gays and lesbians -- including O'Donnell -- in some manner.
O'Donnell, who had a much-publicized 1999 tiff with actor Tom Selleck about his NRA support, is "not cool, she's the freak," said conservative commentator Debbie Schlussel, a frequent guest on "The Howard Stern Show" and Fox News. "

7. It comes out a little differently in context
Thanks for the link to that speech, benchmeister!

The thing is, like so much else that you post, it presents a distorted view of what was imparted. By posting what you did of Hesotn's speech, you made him seem anti-gay. Now read it again with the preceding paragraph in place, and you can see the difference:

The gay and lesbian movement is another good example. Many homosexuals are hugely talented artists and executives... also dear friends. I don't despise their lifestyle, though I don't share it. As long as gay and lesbian Americans are as productive, law-abiding and private as the rest of us, I think America owes them absolute tolerance. It's the right thing to do.

But on the other hand, I find my blood pressure rising when Clinton's cultural shock troops participate in homosexual-rights fund-raisers but boycott gun-rights fund-raisers... and then claim it's time to place homosexual men in tents with Boy Scouts, and suggest that sperm donor babies born into lesbian relationships are somehow better served and more loved.

20. Sure it does, slack...
Now I suggest you cry about it to someone who wants to pimp for the NRA.

"The NRA claims that the individuals and organizations on the list have ``anti-gun`` views or have supported ``anti-gun`` causes. If that`s the case, the list proves that everyone disagrees with the NRA and supports some form of gun control."

21. Cited source has zero credibility
From the linked page:

"In addition, the site focuses on two critical NRA initiatives currently before Congress. The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (S. 659/H.R. 1036), which already passed the House and will soon be up for a vote in the Senate, would provide blanket immunity to gun manufacturers, gun shops, dealers and distributors even in cases in which their negligence contributed to an injury or death...."

Any source that distorts reality that badly is of no use in any serious discussion.

22. "illegal arguments"?
If arguments were illegal, wouldn't somebody be having a little freedom-of-speech problem??

Okay ... my bet is that it was supposed to be "illogical arguments", but ya just never knows.

Oh look ... reading backwards in time, I hit post # 14, and sure enough, "illogical arguments" it is.

I am left wondering about Freudian slips showing, but secure in my ability and desire to look for and find meaning, despite the impediments thrown in my path ...

...that part of your mission is to defend illogical arguments proffered by gun fanatics?

(I'm assuming you meant to type the word "illogical" - I don't think any of the arguments on this board are strictly illegal, unless AssKKKroft is really cracking down with the Patriot Act.....)

5. It's instructive to see
not only the sort of groups the NRA considers enemies, but the ones the NRA counts in the friends column...

P.S.: If, as some people say, the only rationale for someone's presence on the NRA's list is them being anti-gun, then how can this group be considered anything but pro-gun?

12. what about this guy:
http://www.jta.org/page_view_story.asp?intarticleid=13337&intcategoryid=4

Jews appear on ‘blacklist,’
prepared by NRA, of gun haters

*snip*
Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, shrugged off the issue.

“There’s nothing wrong with it,” Foxman said.

Calling it a blacklist is “inappropriate,” he said, because the NRA does not petition members to take any action against those listed.

The ADL is “appropriately on there because we are an organization that has opposed” the NRA on gun legislation, Foxman said. The list only “adds credibility to them and to us.”

*snip/end*

I guess the NRA is so insidious that it gets people it descibes as being an "opponent" to "shill" for the NRA. :eyes:

13. Yeah, that's the ticket...
From the same article:

"Shelley Klein, director of advocacy for Hadassah, which is on the list, said that “to try to stigmatize organizations” and reduce multifaceted groups to a single issue is “really troubling.”
But Klein was largely dismissive of the list.
“Seeing the company we keep, we’re not concerned,” she said."

29. Google "NRA blacklist"
And all sort of interesting scum turn out to be cheering for the Wayne LaPierre's enemies list....

"It's interesting to note that the media spokesman chosen by the NRA to address the Jew-heavy 'blacklist' -- Ted Novin -- is also a Jew.

Translation: we're pissed that the NRA is savvy enough to know the old political rule - always fight fire with fire.

What is actually interesting to note is that when the NRA makes a list of gun-haters and the list is disproportionately Jewish, Jews call the NRA Jew-haters, rather than admit that Jews are gun-haters."

http://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread.php?t=94651

Funny, there don't seem to be any groups of decent people defending the shitheels of the NRA....oh, that's right...they're ON the enemies list.
