Homeowner Stops Teen In Alleged Burglary Attempt
http://www.wesh.com/news/23126579/detail.html

DELAND, Fla. --
Police said a DeLand man spotted a teen hanging halfway out of a back window as he returned home with his family.
<snip>
Woulard said he scared the teen by firing a round into the ground.

"The expression on his face ... it was like he was fixing to poop himself," Woulard said. "He laid down and I held him there until the cops came."

Police said the suspect used a piece of brick to break a window and enter the home.

Use of a gun that requires nobody being shot? Unpossible! (or so some say..)

1. the gun use required a BULLET being shot.
it was just aimed at the ground. the kid gave up because he was afraid the next bullet would be fired into his body.

guns are not simply a warning device.

2. Most crimes where a gun is pulled by a good guy to defend himself
result in NO shots fired. Either the bad guy sh*ts his pants and lays down to wait for cops, or he sh*ts his pants and runs away in search of easy (read: unarmed) prey.

I could see his mom now, "Son, come here and explain all these damn skid marks on your drawers".

4. Yeah
and for every CHL holder who uses their gun illegally, there are hundreds who use them legally or never use them at all.

5. I think you misunderstood the course of events of that particular incident
From the Detroit Free Press (http://www.freep.com/article/20100414/NEWS03/4140354/Man-charged-in-road-rage-shooting-case):
According to police, Mintz apparently was brake-checking another car, leading the 20-year-old Commerce Township man behind him on Orchard Lake Road to have to brake, too. When the pair stopped for the light at 13 Mile Road, police said, the Commerce Township man got out of his car and walked to Mintz's vehicle and they argued.

Police said Mintz pulled a gun and shot the Commerce Township man in the arm. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was being treated at a local hospital.

If there was any road rage involved in this incident, it appears to have been on the part of the guy who was shot. The shooter may have overreacted (we'll have to see what the court decides), but he wasn't the one who initiated the confrontation.

8. In louis-t's defense, it wasn't him in the other threads
This is actually the only incident in which louis-t has cited that incident. It's been cited in other threads, but by other posters (such as county worker).

Of course, the net effect is the same: we could cite a dozen DGUs, and a dozen different people can claim the Farmington Hills incident cancels it out, which of course it does not. Especially since insofar anyone was suffering from road rage in that incident, it appears to have been the guy who was shot, not the guy who did the shooting.
