Driver says he was shot at during early morning commute

A driver reported that he was shot at while driving south on state Route 163 Wednesday morning.

The man called 911 just after 5:30 a.m. and said that someone had pulled alongside him as he was just north of Kearny Villa Road and opened fire, said California Highway Patrol officer Ray Scheidnes.

The driver pulled off the highway and inspected his vehicle and found a bullet hole, Scheidnes said. The man declined to offer further details and instead said he would file a report later in the day.

No description of the shooter or their vehicle was given.
