8. No, that's correct. I think you're accidentally comparing 1 year of sales to 1 business quarter.

That number is a little higher than normal, but in-line. Ballpark, it looks right to me.

Edit: OH, I think I see the problem. The OP suggests that is how much was collected, I think it should read that is how much in sales the tax was levied against. Otherwise, that number is just totally bogus.

That's about how much there was in total sales for the year, and even then, the number is a tad high. The actual tax revenue was closer to 400 million. Source further down-thread.
