Colorado State, officially rescinded their illegal gun ban today!
Edited on Thu May-06-10 11:13 AM by virginia mountainman
Colorado - Today the CSU Board of Governor’s voted to rescind their illegal ban on concealed carry on campus.

“They didn’t have a legal leg to stand on,” said Dudley Brown, Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners (RMGO). “We told them in January, in no uncertain terms, that state law did not allow them to create their own gun ban. Unfortunately, it took a lawsuit to force them to back down.”

I went to the Brady Campaign's website, to see what they though of the steady gains made by our side, and on the CSU gun ban, nothing but....

Crickets... But, they still have a big problem with Starbucks!

The Brady Campaign, has chosen to stick their collective heads in the sand, and continue as if they are still winning (like 1993) and have gone on to other issues..They are not interested in defending their rules, once they are passed. In a way, their are like the stupid neighbor that insists on spending money on an elaborate backyard pool, when their house is falling in.

With the steady march of gun rights in the vast majority of the nation, and their focus on Starbucks.

But, it seems like over the next couple of weeks, their will be a push to close the non-existent gun show loophole, at the Federal level. We must stop this from even being considered. We are in enough trouble in November without pissing off MILLIONS OF VOTING GUN OWNERS too.

To even attempt to pass the ban, will reinforce the NRA mantra that Dems want to "take your guns"

And we will loose the good will Obama has brought us on this issue, by making it a NON issue, and actually signing pro-gun legislation, unlike Bush.

1. While I agree this is a good thing, I gotta take issue
with the "NRA mantra Dems want to "take your guns". Have a link or provable statement to back that up? I'm NOT calling you out by any means, just not sure where you got your info.

See this thread for a Dem Governor who has an NRA "A" rating.

11. As does the Governor of New Mexico ...

In 2003, Richardson backed and signed legislation creating a permit system for New Mexicans to carry concealed handguns. He applied for and received a concealed weapons permit, though by his own admission he seldom carries a gun.<28>

4. I think I can see the reasoning for their Starbucks campaign.
If they can get Starbucks to knuckle under, the McDonalds, Burger King, etc are next. If they can get enough national chains to ban guns, then it will look like guns are a loser.

6. That might work until there is a murder during a robbery ...
at a Burger King and one of the witnesses says, "I have a concealed carry permit and might have been able to stop the incident. But I had to leave it in the car because Burger King has a rule against firearms."

7. That could well be why Starbucks is saying they will honor local laws.

And why none of the big chains have "No Guns" signs.

15. As things worsen throughout these United States more people are rethinking their opposition to RKBA.
Edited on Thu May-06-10 05:39 PM by jody
Soon only the most strident gun-haters with utopian dreams where sheep live peacefully with wolves will be left opposing the natural, inherent, inalienable/unalienable right to self-defense.

If We the People let corporatist force us to pay so mega corporations don't die through bankruptcy then we must insist that every individual has a right to self-defense because government is not obligated to protect an individual against criminals.

17. Government with the authority to infringe on any right can infringe on all rights.
Any government that believes they "give" rights can also take them away.

18. Understand and that's precisely what King George III and his predecessors believed because Popes and
Priests anointed them with oil proclaiming the divine right of kings -- as long as kings supported the state religion and promised to keep the church coffers full with coins taken from the starving peasants.

An incestuous relationship between two forces joined to screw We the People.
