Why did America's AWB lapsing only cause murder to rise in Mexico?
Edited on Mon May-24-10 06:17 PM by TPaine7
How can it be that our murder rate is still dropping?

Is this something like Chicago murder rates rising because of gun ownership downstate? Or DC rates being forced up by Virginia's guns (without a corresponding rise in VA crime)?

(*Whispering* And let's just ignore DC's crime rate plummeting after their ban was struck down.)

Strange, isn't it? Like someone stepping on your foot hurting your elbow.

1. How cruel of you, sir, to point out

that our emperor is naked.

What kind of progressive are you?! Where is your loyalty?!?!

I know it may seem cruel, but it's even worse for grown folks to believe in Santa Clause.

Or the Tooth Fairy.

Or Brady-style gun control.

The tears will dry and the shock will wear off.

9. "Gentlemen, (this is addressed to jazzhound, too)"

Not sure if that was intended as a shot, but then again.........don't need to know/understand everything.

And being a gentleman isn't everything it's cracked up to be anyway.

20. It didn't. The entire premise of President Calderon's comments is false.
According to the Los Angeles Times.

The entire premise of President Calderon's comments is false.

Thanks for reminding me.

5. You must be thinking of El Presidente's speech to Congress.
Basically, all I heard there was "all of Mexico's problems are the fault of the U.S."

I wonder how long the antis will take to realize how stupid this "but Mexican drug lords who can get cheap select-fire weapons from arms dealers are hopping the border and paying inflated prices for semi-auto-only's" line is.

13. Darn it, I missed the part where El Presidente explained why
US Military weapons sold to El Presidente's military somehow magically appeared in the hands of the drug cartels.

bribing or attacking law enforcement, politicians and judges. It MUST be the fucking Americans who want to own fake AK47's...Yeah, THAT's IT!!!
I am SURE Mexico would have NO PROBLEMS if not for the US being a bad influence on its people.

El Presidente lies and Obama backs him up.

17. In fairness to the Mexicans, the US has to shoulder some of the blame
After all, if it weren't for Americans eagerly buying the marijuana, meth and heroin the cartels produce, and the cocaine the cartels transship, they'd be a damn sight less capable of buying entire local and state governments, not to mention the oodles of hardware they have. So we're definitely partly to blame for Mexico's problems due to our successive governments' dogged refusal to stop the senseless, insane so-called "War on Drugs," legalize them, and set up legal supply chains that bypass the Mexican cartels.

Even legalizing marijuana alone would help; 60% of the cartels' income comes from sales of marijuana in the U.S. alone.

18. Without doubt, we bear that blame.
But that is not the case that was brought against us. Had he brought that case, he would have been on very solid ground.

though several have done courageous annonomous drive-by unrecs.

14. That's because the researchers at the FBI and DOJ are OBVIOUSLY paid hacks of the NRA.
In reality, violent crime is going to Kill Us All Very Soon, but the FBI and DOJ have been paid by the NRA to cover up the dire state of things. I think there was some sort of secret ritual in the Capitol sub-subbasement involving the Attorney General, the head of the NRA, and some guy played by Tom Hanks.

We all know that REAL stats on crime are culled from Google searches by a gun-control lobbyist and a couple of interns.

15. Doesn't anyone want to explain this mystery?
Won't one of the drive-by unrec folks show the courage of their convictions?

Many people have argued that Mexico's problems have been fueled by US "assault weapons"--is gun control so intellectually bankrupt that it won't even attempt to support its positions?!!

While you're at it--assuming you actually exist--revise my question to account for the facts explained in post 20.

Thanks
