Cop's Murder Has Some Thinking Of Carrying A Gun
Some Gun Control Supporters Now Thinking Of Breaking City's Handgun Ban

CHICAGO (CBS) ― They are law-abiding citizens in Chicago, but they are so worried about their own safety, they say they might have to break the law.

...

That has some African-American families in Chicago considering doing something they never would have done before: carry a pistol.

CBS 2's Jim Williams reports he grew up among those families and he's never anything like it.

...

"I've heard parents in my basketball camps express that very fervently, just over the weekend, that they want the right to protect themselves," Robinson said.

Estella Jernigan, works at a seniors center in Chatham, talked to an older man here who's taking a job for one reason.

"He said he was going to apply for a security guard so he would be armed." Jernigan said. "So he could carry a gun."

...

Gowder, who said his mother had always been in favor of gun control, has now changed her mind.

"My mother, who is in 60s, now feels she needs to have a gun and she needs to take lessons so that she will be qualified in case somebody kicks in her door," said Gowder.

...

In that neighborhood, many residents have told C{B}S 2 News off camera that they are willing to begin carrying a gun to protect themselves, even if it means breaking the ban on handguns.

Middle class black folks--long-time gun control supporters, no less.

In Chicago.

Want to pack heat!

The chains are falling from the minds of black folks in Chicago. These people want to protect themselves and their families. "Legal" or not! How long can Daley's thuggish house of cards stand if he loses the 60 year old black women who have always supported trampling the Second Amendment?

If Chicago makes unconstitutional laws, they deserve no respect. And logically, they deserve no respect. As one gentleman put it, he would rather the police catch him with a gun than the thugs catch him without one. Imagine that--a black man in Chicago daring to think that he has the same right to self-defense as any other American citizen. How can Daley and his fellow travelers put up with this nonsense?!

It's beautiful watching the GCRDF (gun control reality distortion field) lose its hold over long imprisoned minds!

(The sad thing is that the Democratic politicians will probably make them chose between their Second Amendment rights and voting democratic. I hope they're as smart as the former Chicago politician who now occupies the White House, but I have my doubts.)

1. One of the reasons I'm not concerned about the fact that California is

for all intents and purposes a "no issue" state is that if the stuff ever really hit the fan, I'm fairly certain certain that law enforcement would take an "if you've got 'em, carry 'em" attitude.

In the event of a serious disruption in social order:

1) Police would have their hands full, and wouldn't have time to deal with minor offenses like illegal concealed carry. (which would be hard to enforce even if they had the time)
2) The majority of rank and file officers know that law abiding citizens with guns aren't the problem.

It's beautiful watching the GCRDF (gun control reality distortion field) lose its hold over long imprisoned minds!

Indeed it is!

4. Here's another clue...........
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlcfaVobhxA&feature=player_embedded

Family members and neighbors said the homeowner was a Korean War veteran and his 83-year-old wife is a retired nurse. They said the couple have been married about 60 years and have lived in the same house on the 600 block of N. Sawyer Ave. for 40 years. This man's neighbors think he did a good thing! They are tired of being victimized by thugs from the neighborhood.

The burglar lived just a few blocks from the people he was trying to rob. He was on parole, released from prison the last time less than 6 months ago.

5. Here's a news video, apparently on the same incident

Note the young black women and their opinions. They actually think that people who don't bother other people--innocent, law abiding people--have the right to use guns to protect themselves from thugs. They actually think such self-defense has a beneficial effect on society at large--it could have been them targeted. What revolutionary thinking! It doesn't fit with European and Japanese norms! Gasp!

They won't be marching with Jessie Jackson to ban guns.

The tide is turning.

7. Chicago firearms law certainly runs counter to the principle of separation of powers
Under the doctrine of the Trias Politica, the legislative branch of government cannot exempt itself from the laws it imposes on the general citizenry. This is an obvious safeguard to keep the legislative process honest, the idea being that no legislator will knowingly vote for an unjust law if he himself may become a victim of it.

In this regard, Chicago has a problem. It's legislature is the city council, composed of aldermen. But these legislators have been accorded powers, as "conservators of the peace," which should correctly be reserved to members of the executive branch of government. As a result, Chicago aldermen are exempt from the city ban on handguns and the state-level ban on carrying handguns. And, being legislators, they shouldn't be.
