Unes: Concealed carry bill not dead

Legislation that would have allowed citizens to carry concealed firearms may have been defeated Thursday in Springfield, but the measure is not dead.

State Rep. Mike Unes, R-East Peoria, a chief co-sponsor of the bill, said discussion of the bill will continue, and it could be brought back to the House of Representatives floor for a second vote before the current legislative session is scheduled to expire at the end of May.

"I'm continuing to work on this," Unes said. "I was disappointed (Thursday), but I'm not giving up."

Maybe not today, and maybe not tomorrow, but it's coming.
