Cops, prosecutors slam gun bill (MN GOP/NRA "Castle Law")
http://www.startribune.com/politics/statelocal/121751354.html

Members of Minnesota's law enforcement establishment adamantly don't want the state's residents to be allowed to shoot first.

They ramped up their opposition on Thursday to a bill moving through the Legislature that would dramatically expand Minnesotans' ability to use deadly force in self-defense without facing prosecution.

Flanked by police chiefs, prosecutors and DFL legislators, Sen. John Harrington, DFL-St. Paul, said the bill "will increase danger to the public and increase danger to the police."

<snip>

The bill's sponsor, Rep. Tony Cornish, R-(edit: MORAN) Good Thunder, said he "was totally aggravated to see those chiefs stand up there to violate people's rights. They're just scaring the public."

2. I bet they loves them some 4th and 5th amendment protections too
Maybe we should let the police approve all the laws we consider passing. After all, they are authority figures and know what's best for all of us.

Isn't there a word for a place where the police are the ultimate authority? What was it, Syria?

3. Castle Doctrine has worked well in the other states that have it.
That is why it is spreading. People are demanding it.

4. yep, let's let the police design our laws, I wonder if they want to have the ability to torture
or just put anyone in prison who looks funny. I wonder if any cops want to go to a protest and throw them all in jail just because they don't like the message of the protest?

Jpak sure loves him a banana republic
