Officer involved in Erik Scott(LV-Costco) shooting indicted on weapons charge
One of three Metro Police officers who shot and killed Erik Scott outside the Summerlin Costco last summer was indicted Friday on a charge of disposing a firearm to a prohibited person.

Thomas Rosco Mendiola was relieved of duty without pay in January pending the outcome of an investigation after he allegedly gave a firearm to a convicted felon as a gift for working on his car.

Mendiola, William Mosher and Joshua Stark shot and killed Scott on July 10 last year outside Costco after authorities say Scott pointed a gun at police. A Clark County coroner’s inquest jury ruled in September after six days of testimony the three officers were justified in the shooting.

According to a criminal complaint, Mendiola gave a .22-caliber gun to Robert Justice, 45, as a gift for working on his car in August 2010. Justice has convictions for two felony offenses and is prohibited from possessing firearms, authorities said.

1. It's interesting, but what does it say about the rightfulness of the Costco take down?
Anybody who has guns as part of their civilian life is equally suspect, don't you think?

9. What distinction are you making?
The object which has the power in the hands of anyone (and I do mean anyone) who desires to use that power to end the life of another.

That is one powerful object, yes?

Intoxicating.

11. Being on the wrong side of any issue can cause you to work strenuously for naught.
Don't beat yourself up over it. Just wake up.

15. Indeed, who else popularized the phrase "Guns cloud thought"?
Apparently, Sauron quit the magic jewelry business and went into the firearms business.

I guess he needed a new source of income after those hippie Hobbits scoured the Shire...

12. Its says nothing about the "rightfulness of the Costco take down".
Anybody who has guns as part of their civilian life is equally suspect, don't you think?
No, I do not think that. Please explain why you think that.

16. Gunners I've known have done much worse with respect to transferring guns.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Costco guy did similar chit (am sorry about what happened to him, but when you create a scene, chit happens). Don't know that he did, but fits with the profile according to Simon Baker.
