I have to go to town today.
I won't be carrying a gun. I will however be driving a POS pickup truck with enough dangerous shit in it to hurt any number of people. Fortunately I don't plan to hurt anyone although the truck itself and the clothes I wear may well deeply offend the aesthetic sensibilities and zenlike calm of those delicate souls around me. I figure that's their problem but I'm willing to negotiate. But they better not pull some sort of fucking Taliban culture war codify my feelings about proper public behavior into statute law bullshit or I'm going to pitch a bitch. Fuck that shit. If you want to carry, that's cool with me. I figure it's your right to do so.

If there is an AK47 and police scanner packing crazy drunk criminal rapist terrorist gang banging obsessive stalker of four eyed artists from Moscow Idaho looking to start some shit, he better be quick. Bullets don't go around corners.

If you happen to be around with your firearm when the shit goes down I don't expect you to save my ass, but you will have my eternal gratitude if you decide to exercise that option.

1. However, for those of you packing when the crazy AK47-wielder takes after me, ...
please leave your piece in your holster -- I'd rather have to duck bullets from only one direction, thank you.

3. I would never risk my life to save a free loader not willing to get his own license to defend
himself and his family. If my family and I are not being attacked I'm not risking myself for the fool who decided to not prepare.

6. If your weapon malfunctioned
and you couldn't clear it or if you were unable to present your weapon in time, would you expect someone to jump on the fucker? If not, would you appreciate it if they did anyway?

8. good point I do carry a Ruger LCP most of the time....maybe I should have said

depending on circumstances I may intervene.

If someones robbing 7-11 and it doesn't appear I'm in danger or the person being robbed is in danger I'd probably not intervene.

If said criminal is beating the clerk to death I probably would.

There are just so many scenarios, the decision may never be easy unless the person is a direct threat to me or my family. Are there multiple attackers? How "armed" are/is he/them? Is it a active shooter situation? Is there enough threat to make me feel deadly force is necessary?

7 rounds of 380 isn't very self assuring...LOL Of the winter I carry a 10+1 45 even that changes what my response may be.

9. I agree.
Nobody should be expected to hoist their sails in a shitstorm. But we don't need armchair quarterbacks punching holes in the hull either.

5. Who said i was a freeloader?
Most people don't expect to have a medical emergency so they don't train for it. That doesn't mean they expect someone to rush to their aid or not appreciate it when they do.

Everybody can't always be prepared for everything.

16. You do and the beer's on me.
For that matter it's on me anyway. :)

I always thought having to shoot in self defense was sort of like being sucked into sort of a worm hole. There's no way to tell where you'll come out by parsing what goes in.
