GA Preacher faces terrorism charges in Jamaica for 22 bullet found in bag

A Georgia preacher's relaxing family vacation ended with time in Jamaica jail cell after airport security found a .22 caliber bullet in his bag.

Steven Carter, 26, was arrested after he tried to board a plane home to Athens with his wife and child and officials discovered the ammunition.

"It was stuck in the seams of the bag," his pastor, Jeff Williams, told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

He told church officials that he has owned the bag most of his life but has not used it in five years, and the last time he fired a gun he was about 10 and squirrel hunting.

That's nuts. A 22 bullet can be easily overlooked. Geez, fine him & let him go home Jamaica!

10. It's possible they missed it in the x-ray...

...I don't know how familiar with firearms you are, but a .22LR cartridge is very small. And that's assuming it's a .22LR. It could be a .22L or a .22 Short and be even smaller. Honestly, I think just about anybody would have a damned hard time finding one on an x-ray machine.

There have been many cases just like this where a car owner did not know there was one round in the floor of the car and ended up doing time in a mexican jail.
