President Jesse Rogers relieved college gun bill hits roadblock in Texas
http://www.examiner.com/law-enforcement-in-wichita-falls/college-gun-bill-hits-roadblock

The bill allowing students to tote guns across Texas college campuses and into classrooms has hit a roadblock and Midwestern State University President Jesse Rogers of Wichita Falls, Texas is relieved.

Upon receiving word that the college gun bill probably won't pass this session the President of the Wichita Falls, Texas university, said Monday, "Those of us who believe that allowing persons on college campuses to carry loaded handguns would increase the potential for violent action, not limit it, are relieved that the legislation.......one opposed by law enforcement, student governments state-wide, and university administrators...... will not go forward. Let us hope that the issue has been set aside permanently."

The author of the guns on campus bill Senator Jeff Wentworth, R(edit-moran)-San Antonio, accused Republican Speaker of the House Joe Strauss of preventing a vote on his bill.

The exasperated Senator Wentworth said it was clear the House speaker doesn't like his bill.

1. Thank goodness the idiocy is apparently dead for this biennium.
Among other things, it would force additional costs on public universities: e.g., because dorm residents would not be allowed to keep guns in their rooms, each dorm would have to have a gun locker and staffing to oversee gun check-in and check-out 24/7.

Or, they could just treat students like the adults they are, and simply hold them responsible for any harm they cause. What a concept, eh?

7. Do you realize how right you are ?
Can't you smell the fear ? College campuses , or more precisely , the young skulls full of malleable mush that they contain are quite the prize . Lack of murderous rampages , and a resultant collective sense of indifference towards various means of self defense is the real threat .

Once they figure out we dont pee in the water fountains , they dont mind sharing them with us . Except for the tiny vocal minority that represents to adults left with any common sense . They'll never quit freakin' out .

I'd have quite a death toll to my credit if I'd been a pistol-picking college student. And suppose these "college kids" had been armed...

:woohoo:

13. Of course it is...
...it's just that one side has evidence to support its position (aka, 70 schools, no issues). Whats the other got? Oh, that's right, irrational fear of CCW permit holders. Yes, irrational fear; a slam dunk fear in any debate, right?
