Bethlehem police: Man fired gun at alleged robber, victim also charged

Michael Anthony Rivera, 20, told police as he was on Cherokee Street, a man named Joshua Garcia began running toward him. Rivera said he heard Garcia yell for everyone to get down on the ground and heard several gunshots fired.

Garcia, 23, told police he fired the gun at Rivera, who was not injured, because he allegedly stole items from his home in Allentown. Garcia said he knew where to find Rivera and confronted him and an unidentified woman in Bethlehem.

Rivera is charged with receiving stolen property, underage drinking, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. He's in Northampton County Prison under $5,000 bail.

Garcia, of 729 W. Lynwood Ave., Allentown is charged with terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, discharging a firearm within city limits and false identification to police. At the scene, police allege Garcia initially identified himself as "Johan Lopez" and gave a different date of birth.
