Man shot fighting off intruders

FORT WORTH -
A 38-year-old man was shot in the head early Wednesday during a struggle with men trying to enter his south Fort Worth home, police said.

Ted Perez was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Perez's wife told police that when she arrived home from shopping about 2:30 a.m., her husband was inside the garage. When two men knocked on the front door, she opened the house's interior door but left the outside door closed to see what the men wanted, Lt. Jesse Hernandez, a police spokesman, said.

"Suddenly, two other Hispanic males come from around the house carrying long guns," Hernandez said.

2. Not That Unusual
Say she worked second shift and got off work at midnight. Then went to a Super Wal-Mart or one of the many supermarket chains we have here in teh Southwest that are open 24 hours.

Just like a parachute is not always guaranteed to work, but you won't see me jumping out of a plane without one!

4. You Can Avoid the Danger of a Failed Parachute .....
...by not skydiving. It's purely optional - just like gun ownership is.

6. Yes it is
but there are certain _personal_ options you can take to reduce the chance of bad things happening, in either case:

- Take lessons
- Be aware of the dangers
- Take care of the equipment
- Have respect for the gravity (no pun intended) of both acts.

Government should not legislate how to be personally safe.
